Bathing Rituals

Dear Friends and Readers,

Hello October! As we move into the cooler months, my skin was starting to get very dry and I needed to add some new items to my bathing routine. Here are a couple of great new products I am trying, so keep reading for more info.

I love a good bath ritual. There is something about soaking in a bath that eases my mind. If I notice that my mind seems to be ping-ponging all over the place - a soak in a tub can really calm me down. Here are a couple of new items that I am trying and really loving.

I love to add oils to my bath! A quick search on the googles found that when mixing oil with bath water the oil penetrates deeper into the skin providing the skin with more rejuvenation. Also the warmth of the oil aids in improved blood circulation, reduction of fatigue, stiff joints and improved motion in joints.— Medium

I found a lovely bath oil online: Olverum Bath Oil…..$32 that I am currently using non-stop. Olverum was originally formulated in the 1920’s by German wine maker Franz Otto Klein. Klein and his pharmacologist wife became fascinated by essential oils and came up with this unique blend. This special recipe survived WWII and has gone on to became an underground cult sensation. This was something I happened upon online and I LOVE IT! The oil just melts into the skin and leaves you feeling refreshed with beautiful looking skin. As one reviewer stated it’s like walking in a pine forest. I personally think this blend of oils has a pepper- like smell. So this particular bath oil I would probably say is more unisex. Made with lavender, eucalyptus, lime and juniper its really not just a treat for your skin, but for all your senses. This really feels like what can only describe as a Fall scent - try it and let me know what your think!

After I get out of the bath I put on Kora Organics Noni Glow…..$58. Kora Organics is former super model Miranda Kerr’s company, which was founded in 2009 on the premise of making a transformative difference to people’s skin. Well this bath oil is pretty great. A very beautiful and light smelling product that again just penetrates the skin without leaving behind any oily residue. As one reviewer noted this has a delicate, light scent. I think it smells a little lemony. A really nice add on if you want more moisture added in to your ritual.

Lastly I slather myself with a body butter and the one that I am jonesing on these days is Goopgenes Nourishing Repair Body Butter…….$55. Goop is Gwyneth Paltrow’s skincare company. I really love this body butter, it’s so luscious and luxurious! Crafted with a trio of nourishing butters: bacuri, cupuaçu, and shea—plus nutrient-dense caviar lime, jojoba, and mulberry leaf too. This is another really light citrus scent that is very pleasing and not too overpowering. A little about body butters: Body butter is a skin moisturizer that typically contains shea butter, coconut oil and/or other vegetable-based oils and butters. ... Body butters are also known to be more effective at nourishing and rejuvenating dry skin, whether used all over or only on problem patches, such as elbows and knees. - Ilovecosmetics.co.uk

If you skin is a little more dry in the cooler months, think about switching up your body care rituals by adding more oils and butters to the mix. My skin is happy I did!
