Two Great Makeup Artists To Watch

Dear Readers and Friends -

As we stay at home waiting to see what the new normal will look like many of us are going online for inspiration. One of my daily exercises is go to Youtube and check out two amazing makeup artists that are having quite a moment at present: Lisa Eldridge and Katey Denno.

Ms. Eldridge is an internally respected makeup artist who hails from New Zealand and currently is based in London with her husband and two kids. She has worked with the world’s top fashion photographer including: Meet & Marcus, Solve Sunsbo and Patrick Demarchelier - anyone who is a fan of The Devil Wears Prada - should remember that name continually coming off of Meryl Streep’s lips! Her work has graced the covers of: Vogue, Elle, Allure and Harper’s Bazaar to name a few. And she seems like a genuinely nice person and an amazing artist. On her Youtube channel she is a natural teacher, showing us all how to make the perfect cat eye, or red lip. Now as far as I can tell - she uses a number of different brands - and in the videos I have watched none of them seemed to highlight organic beauty - but I always say you should steal from the best! You can learn her tips and transfer them to your favorite organic makeup products of choice. Another thing that I love about her is she dissects stars makeup techniques from the Golden Age of Hollywood and the makeup artists that gave stars their unique look under the clege lights: Some of the iconic looks that she has shown us how to emulate are: Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Tippi Hedren and Marilyn Monroe and so many others. She also has her own brand of lipsticks too! Though they are not organic, you may just want to check them out to see what are the ‘in’ colors of the moment. Katey Denno is the second makeup artist I am showcasing here today. Based in L.A. she has worked on a number of stars for red carpets events along with print media. Ms. Denno has been at the forefront of the green beauty industry - so much so that she has started a collaboration with Credo Beauty to be their brand ambassador and lead makeup artist. But my favorite thing that she does are the paired down videos she puts up on instagram telling you why she likes a product, and what it does for your skin! She also (in the sanctity of her bathroom) puts together makeup looks for those of us who might be a bit shy of purchasing bold items to add to our makeup arsenal and shows how we can build a look putting it all together to look beautiful. There is even an old instagram post where she walks through the aisles of Whole Foods and talks about what products she likes that the company carries- with her shopping basket and tall frame! I have been receiving emails from Credo about virtual in store tutorials she is doing - via zoom!
